Deputies Franciszek Kazimierz Sariusz Kałowski and Kazimierz Wolicki, appointed to collect the Jewish poll tax by the General of the Crown artillery Marcin Kątski, protest against the land rabbi of Poznań and the Kalisz and Krotoszyn land elders, gathered at the regional council in Nowe Miasto nad Wartą, for dividing the tax into 72 Jewish towns in Greater Poland, not taking into account their economic condition and directing them with assignations to collect money from insolvent towns, destroyed by fire or depopulated (Dobra, Lutomiersk, Ostroróg, Margonin, Jastrów, Mrocza, Wolsztyn, Chodzież, Czarnków, Rogoźno, and Oborniki), in which Jews used the protection of the local nobility and magnates, effectively preventing them from execution and thus exposing them to travel-related costs.
